Scared Straight, Crackdown Style

Here's the new TV spot for Crackdown. It looks like it was inspired by Scared Straight.

Video: Flow for PS3

Here is a new video of the PS3 version of Flow, a game originally created in Flash as testbed for a USC student's thesis on Embedded Difficulty Adjustment. The game is designed to be accessible by a large audience. Flow is coming to PS3 as a downloadable game with 1080p HD graphics and SIXAXIS controller support.

First video of Prince of Persia Rival Swords

Need a break from the President's State of the Union? Here's the first game play video of Prince of Persia: Rival Swords, which is due out for the Wii in March 2007. The video is overlaid with the Wii remote and the nunchuk to show how the controls work.

Prince of Persia is a game that fits the Wii control style perfectly. It seems that games that provide smooth rhythmic game play are the most fun on Wii, and Prince of Persia easily fits that profile.

Gears of War Map Pack 1 Walkthrough

Gears of War Lead Designer Cliff Bleszinski leads a walkthrough of the two new maps. It's pretty short but it should give feel for what to expect when you download the new map pack.

Short video, "Game Over" combines animation and live action

This short video by Romeo Mazzei video has a great concept and some excellent animation. A guy gets sucked into his TV and finds himself overcoming obstacles in classics like Pac-Man, Pong, Mario, and Street Fighter. The video may sound innocent, but the music and the actor's creepy expressions make it much more cynical.

Girls Gone Wild at CES 2007

These two girls from Playboy Girls Gone Wild sure know their tech. They even have the inside info about a new type of connection called "USB." I better start shopping for a new computer with one of those. But seriously, this is hilarious. I love how the camera guy encourages her by saying, "tell us about your computer."

Xbox 360's IPTV in action

Earlier we reported that IPTV is coming to the Xbox 360 this year. This video shows how it will work and what the interface consists of. The interface is similar to that of a digital cable box or a TiVo, but this looks faster and very sleek. It provides a live picture-in-picture preview of channels as you surf, so you can actually see what's on without changing. But there are still some answered questions about availability and pricing. Your local cable service provider has to provide the IPTV service and it will probably be at an additional cost.

Halo 3 game play video leaked

When Bungie had the guys in Iraq play test Halo 3, someone had the guts to grab some shakycam footage. The two videos are short and not all that engaging, but hell it's Halo 3. Check out the other video after the jump.

Top 10 Angry Video Game Nerd moments of the year

I don't think I've ever posted anything about ScrewAttack's Angry Video Game Nerd before, but I truly regret that. This seems like the perfect way to make up for it.

Bungie VidDoc released about Brutes in Halo 3

Bungie released this seven minute video documentary about Brutes in Halo 3 this morning at 2AM. One developer admits that the Brutes were a hasty addition to Halo 2, but Halo 3 will show them in an entirely new light. Although most of the shots are unfinished, the video showcases some adjustments and additions that Bungie has done to make the Brutes more significant. New armor, appearance, and weapons beef up the Brutes and should make them very worthy adversaries.

Hopefully, Bungie will continue to release these "VidDocs" that provide some great opportunities to see what goes into the production process.

Wii Forecast walkthrough video

Is this a day early? I don't know. But it's pretty cool.

Sony: worst, marketing, ever...

Sony needs to hire somebody, anybody, to make their ad campaigns better. I mean come on. Who wants to sit around for a minute and twenty-one seconds and watch some guy repeat "P-S-P" over and over. To make matters worse, this is all part of a horrible viral marketing campaign rooted in a fake fansite, which was created by Sony's marketing firm. Here is the goal of the "fansite":

i (charlie) have a psp. my friend jeremy does not. but he wants one this year for xmas. so we started clowning with sum not-so-subtle hints to j's parents that a psp would be teh perfect gift. we created this site to spread the luv to those like j who want a psp!

Are we actually supposed to believe that someone went out of their way to create an entire website simply to "spread the luv" of PSP? Who uses the word "luv" anymore?

Halo 3 ad is awesome

I was skeptical when I heard that the Halo 3 ad was part live-action, part CGI. But I saw it a moment ago and I was very impressed. They pulled it off flawlessly. I'm hoping that the kids in the begining are Spartans-in-training, one of them being Master Chief. That would open the possibility for some killer flashbacks back during the new campaign.

Remember, the registration for the spring Halo 3 multiplayer beta program is now open at www.halo3.com. The site is taking forever to respond (and sometimes it just doesn't).

Drunken interview with God of War creator

God of War creator David Jaffe is living the dream--making hit games and partying at the Playboy mansion. He's a celebrity. The occasional drunken interview plastered all over the Internet just comes with the job.

It's a tradition. When you get a new gadget, you have to document its unboxing.
